My Thoughts Make A Difference

Art by Patty Piotrowski

Hello Singer of Wellness!

All italicized words from "My Thoughts Make A Difference" by Chandler Yorkhall.

My feelings make a difference.

To create the artwork for each episode, Patty listens to the song, sings along, lets it settle inside her... and then asks what image would suit? For this one, the words, what can I do for this broken world, drew her in. Patty says:

"I realized that one of the things that I have done this past month is mend garments and even a quilt, that are torn, using a needle and thread. In its own quiet way, it settles and heals and fixes a small bit of brokenness, and I have found it makes me a bit more whole."

I will not shy away from the struggle in my soul.

Chandler Yorkhall starts with saying our thoughts, feelings, words, and healing all make a difference -- they all matter. The security of that knowledge opens up the will to directly address the struggle in the soul -- which gives the bandwidth to ask what I can do for this broken world. I love the way this song layers up like this, letting me choose to sing into where I am on any given day.

My healing makes a difference!

I'm looking at tulips right now, a birthday gift from my beloved, Tom... I'll read your names into our townhouse, imagining the fine threads of connection: you and me to Chandler Yorkhall and his family and back to each other, all humming these songs in our corners of the world.

If you or anyone you know might like to spend a few days soaking in song, strengthening your own songweb, please don't miss the A Breath of Song retreat below! I need three more people who feel called to this kind of time-out-of-time for deep listening. ðŸ˜Š

Welcome, Rebecca!

Hello listeners! I'm Rebecca - some of you might remember me as Patricia's daughter and occasional guest singer, from episodes 71, 96, and 122. In previous chapters of my life I've taught swim lessons, sold fancy chocolates, written software, and danced in ballroom competitions. Now I'm excited to join the A Breath of Song team for a few hours a week while my daughter is in preschool, to help with the everyday logistics of creating this podcast. My goal is to make things run super smoothly so as many people as possible can discover the joy of singing!

Space where you can show up exactly as you are on this four-day retreat of song, questions, and listening at the Rowe Center in Western Massachusetts from May 30th-June 2nd, 2024.

Registration is open, and with just three more people we'll have completed the founding fifteen!!! I keep thinking we'll never get there -- but I have a lovely team around me saying it's absolutely possible. Click the graphic if you might like to come!!?!

One of our songsharers, Katie Sontag, has released a songbook and an album! "Share the Journey" - episode #68 on "A Breath of Song" - is the first track on "For the Tender Hearted" and sheet music for the song is featured in the songbook! The songbook of 21 original songs consists of musical notation, lyrics, original artwork, the song's origin story and teaching tips.
To purchase her songbook and album, you can visit her website https://katiesontag.com or her bandcamp https://katiesontag.bandcamp.com/

Why a gratitude jar?

Because reciprocity counts.
A gratitude jar allows us to receive from you--

and so you give to us who give A Breath of Song to you,
in a beautiful cycle of mutual tending.

Contribute on a one-time or recurring basis:
it's easy, reliable,
and deeply appreciated.

Other ways to give back to us? Of course!

Share, review, comment.
A world jam-packed with people
tuning in to themselves and each other would be
the best reciprocity imaginable.
